On Sunday November 3 (1-3pm) I’ll be holding a one-off creative writing event called “Can you write a children’s picture book?”. I’ll be speaking about the experience of writing a best-seller – the 117,000 selling “You’re A Hero Daley B” – and analysing a few other successful picture book texts before encouraging participants to have a go themselves. You need no experience of creative writing to take part – though experienced writers are also welcome, as mastering the art of writing a good picture book affords many lessons for other forms of writing. Needless to say, you do not have to draw any pictures – the story is all we’re concerned with here.
The cost of this event will be just £10 advance or £15 on the door. Participants will have the opportunity of enrolling for a six-week general creative writing course in January at a reduced rate.
The event will take place as usual at the Bute Park Education Centre: details of how to get there at About the Venue; details of how to pay at Booking and Contact.
